Dr. Kim S. Elliott, BTech, PhD, MICE, CEng, b. 1953, is a leading consultant to the precast industry in the UK, Malaysia and Korea. He was Senior Lecturer in the School of Civil Engineering at Nottingham University, UK from 1987-2010. He was formerly at Trent Concrete Structures Ltd. one of the UK’s leading precast concrete manufacturers, and was a design consultant to Hume Industries in Kuala Lumpur from 1993-98. He is an international design consultant to Samsung C&T Corporation in Korea. Since 1987 Dr Elliott has been active in research into the behaviour of precast concrete structures, and has published more than 120 papers and 6 text books – BCA’s Precast Frame Buildings Design Guide (1992), Multi-Storey Precast Concrete Frame Structures (1996, 2nd Ed. 2013), Precast Concrete Structures (2002) and Precast Concrete in Mixed Construction (2002) and co-authored The Concrete Centre’s Economic Concrete Frames Manual (2009).

He is a member of the British Precast Federation’s Technical Committees on frames and flooring, and member of the FIB UK Group and FIB Commission on Prefabrication, where he is a co-author of the FIP Frames Manual (1994), Hollow Cored Floors(2000) and Structural Connections (2008). He is the co-author of British Precast’s lecture course for students on precast concrete construction (2012). He was Chairman of the European research project COST C1 on Semi-Rigid Connection in Precast Structures (1992-99). He has lectured on precast concrete frames and flooring over 40 times in 16 countries worldwide (incl. Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, South Africa, Austria, Barbados, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Scandinavia and Australia) and at 30 UK universities.
